Backstory

Kaldirent was born in Ishgard to a pair of Temple Knights. Discipline and martial works were part of his life from the start. Upon coming of age he followed in his parents footsteps and joined the Temple Knights, quickly adapting to the demands of the role. The Dragonsong War painted much of his experience, spending most of his time partnering with the various House Knights in joint operations and patrols.
During his time in service, he befriended a knight named Alsert Fedier, son of the minor noble lord Tellix Fedier, becoming neigh inseparable even in times when they were not working. Though this connection, Kal eventually came to know Vaifinne Fedier, Alsert’s sister, who would also join Kal and Alsert in their merriment. Vaifinne and Kal also became close friends, though one night, shortly before Vaifnne’s political wedding to the Adrent Tiduet, heir to the minor house Tiduet, they allowed their relationship to become too close. A lapse in judgement, possibly caused by too much wine, led to a night of passion would leave Vaifnne pregnant. Vaifnne would give birth to a daughter: Amette.
With the night being so close to the wedding night, no one was aware of Amette’s true sire. The two even convinced themselves that she was Adrent’s; however, ten years later, the truth was discovered by Vaifnne’s father Tallix. Fearing the impact Amette’s true parentage could cause to the political well-being of his family, Tallix gave Kal an ultimatum: disappear and allow Tallix protect Amette as a child of noble birth or Amette would have to die. Kal left Ishgard without a word to anyone that very night, out of fear for the life of the daughter he never actually knew.
Kaldirent spent the next few years in exile in the Shroud, eventually joining the Wood Wailers for a time as a way to utilize the martial skills he learned as a knight, though in the years following the Calamity, Kal began to travel the world and offer his services as a Freelance.
Eventually, the truth of Amette’s parentage was revealed, resulting in the death of her mother for ‘her betrayal.’ After securing Amette’s safety, Kal returned to Ishgard to claim justice by Trial by Combat.
Today, Kal works to make up for the lost time with his daughter, now in her early 20s.

Hooks

- Prufrock Ventures is always looking for a good connection. They'll take just about any job or at least will hear out any job. They prefer things that are on the up-and-up but are generally pragmatists vs being idealistic.
- Those who spent some time in the Temple Knights or worked alongside the Temple Knights in the past 20 years might recognize him, though they may not have seen him in some time.
- In his early knight days, he accompanied the Fedier family as a friend (and potential project job). While he was not a noble himself, a noble may recognize him through that association.
- More recently, Kal spent time in the in the Wood Wailers. Anyone who might have had dealings with them in the past 7 years or so may recognize him.
